Welcome!

Welcome to Milford & Godalming u3a
(until recently Milford & District u3a)

Although we are based in and around Milford and Godalming in Surrey we have members from as far afield as Camberley, Walton-on-Thames, Bookham, Farnham, Liphook and Cranleigh.   Nestled as we are in the beautiful Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty we are perfectly placed for our rambling, nature, walking, pub walks and cycling groups.

Where the retired and semi-retired come together and learn together

Membership is not restricted to a specific age group but to a period in life. The third age follows the second age, that of full-time employment and parental responsibility. We provide an opportunity to meet people and to learn or teach in a relaxed social atmosphere. The general idea is: you teach me what you know and I will teach you what I know.

We currently have active groups in these categories:
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Sports & Fitness
  • History – Current Affairs – Culture, Visits
  • Languages
  • Literature: Reading & Writing
  • Music
  • Outdoor Pursuits
  • Science & Computing
  • Photography
  • Games & Quizzes

Milford & Godalming u3a currently has 50 Groups open to its members. To see just what we have available take a look our Interest Groups page.

We are always looking for new members, new groups and new topics, and in particular, would like to establish groups for Cooking and Keep Fit, Sciences and Geology so, if you have experience in any of these areas, we would love to hear from you.  Full support will be given should you agree to lead a new group.  Painting and Drawing groups; we already have more than one of each but these are ever popular, often oversubscribed, and we could do with more Group Leaders to cope with the demand.

Willing to try new ideas, we will set up groups for quite small numbers or expand those of huge interest so that two or more meetings are available to accommodate everyone. This policy is solely dependent on our marvellous, unpaid, volunteer leaders who freely give their time to encourage members to take part in self help learning.

In addition to the Interest Groups we have monthly Friday Talks where we have had a variety of fascinating guest speakers in the last couple of years.
