We meet: 2nd Fri 10:00‒11:30 at St John's Church Hall.

As always, we've read a range of books this year, from the comedic writing of Bill Bryson to the more serious works of Anthony Doerr (All the Light We Cannot See) and William Boyd (Sweet Caress). We all enjoyed Curtain Call, by this year's ‘new' author Anthony Quinn. Just the book-choosing session in June to look forward to when we meet for coffee, picnic lunch and voting on our choices for next year.

We meet: 2nd Fri 10:00‒12:00 at St Mark's Community Centre.

There are two groups, run in parallel. Last year we looked at art from the 19th century, from Turner and Constable to the Impressionists (Monet and Pissarro). Over the next year we shall look at the changes from Impressionism to the mid-20th century (from Renoir and van Gogh to Dali and Rothko), trying to see how each period's art reflected the social, political, religious and artistic currents of the time.
