These walks are for people who enjoy the countryside and who like to look at and listen to what is around them. Distances covered will not be great and there will be frequent stops for discussion and investigation, but you must be fit enough to climb the occasional hill and to get over a stile now and then. Most of the walks will be local but one or two will take us further afield.

Got a ukulele? Fun-filled sessions playing and singing (not compulsory) ballads, country, rock'n'roll, old-time, classics, etc. Over 100 songs, easy to moderate ability. Hugely enjoyable playing with others. I'm not an expert or teacher, but an enthusiast offering help and encouragement. You should have some knowledge of the basic chords and be able to strum – sorry, no complete novices. Some initial monetary outlay may be necessary. For more information please contact me soon.

As usual we read two plays last year: Coriolanus which, although politically relevant, was felt to be dark and difficult, then The Comedy of Errors which was the exact opposite – fun! Finally we had an enjoyable session looking at some of the sonnets. Next year we're starting with A Midsummer Night's Dream, then after Christmas we'll read Hamlet. We welcome new members.

This year both classes have been well attended as usual, and have produced a variety of articles to a very high standard. Most people don't realise how therapeutic patchwork is, how soothing to sit quietly and produce something in wonderful colours and textures. Do we appreciate how lucky we are to be able to attend classes with friendly people and with Maria to guide and advise?

Just turn up, join a team of four and get your brains in gear! Rounds are quite varied. This year we've ranged from Ships to National Trust properties, from Herbs to Famous Jacks, and from London Landmarks to Postcodes. It's all a bit of fun and not serious, especially with Ian's jokes thrown into the mix!
