Ukuleles of the Third Age

Ukuleles of the Third Age
May 2019. I thought it was about time I gave an update on my terrific ukulele group which is now coming up to 5 years of ukulele fun. Most are now competent enough to tackle almost any song, ballads to country to rock'n'roll (which we particularly enjoy). Singing along is encouraged and most do this with much gusto! Up until Christmas 2018 we'd given 36 performances in just 33 months to day centres, residential homes, hospital, etc, with usually 9-14 joining me on these occasions. We have never charged a fee to cover our costs, (although a cup of tea & a slice of cake is always welcome!), it is our way of giving some pleasure to those less fortunate than ourselves. It's lovely to know that our little shows are enjoyed so much that we are regularly invited back. However, as you can imagine, it was getting rather hectic, with our fortnightly sessions too, so this year so far we have only given one performance, and concentrated on practising lots of new songs (about 120 in our repertoire). The attached photo was taken 17th May 2019. It's a lovely happy photo, albeit it a bit out of focus, and 6/7 members absent, and sums up what our group is about - huge fun. In September 2019 I am looking to start classes for novices too, which I haven't done for 2 years, so if you're interested please contact me for details.

Hi Diane, Thank you for your interest. Yes I will be doing a novices course 6 or 8 weeks teaching the basics. Starting 6th September, 1st & 3rd Fridays of the month 10.00am - 11.15am, which will then be followed at 11.30am with the general class session, which you'd of course be welcome to join in with.
Depending on the numbers wanting to learn, I may have to book more time on another day too. Please email me for more details. Regards, Lorna.
