Report on Birdwatching Walk at Puttenham
There was a good attendance for our walk on Puttenham Common 11th January. The weather was rather dull but not too cold. We started well with three goosanders on Cutt Mill Pond, along with several mandarin and tufted ducks. Then we found a lovely kingfisher perched by the Tarn. It was quiet in the woods up to Long Pond, where a red kite put in an appearance and a few crossbills flew over. There were goldcrests and tits in the woods up to the top of the Common, but no sign of further raptors. It was agreed to be a pleasant morning’s walk.
